Nick Roumonada clearly remembers the day he found out he was going to lose his leg. Everyone around him was crying and, although Nick was sad, he was not afraid. At the age of 13, Nick was diagnosed with Spinal Meningitis and the infection wasn't going down without a fight. It took six months of being in the hospital and the amputation of his left leg below the knee, before Nick was finally free of the infection.
With the support of his family and friends, Nick embraced his new challenges, regarding them as an opportunity to show others what is truly possible. Now, almost 20 years later, Nick has stayed true to his vision. Nick is an avid athlete and has a passion for running. With recent grants from the Challenged Athletes Foundation©, which included help acquiring an Ossur Flex Run Foot and funding for competition, Nick will be running faster than ever!
